I am an experienced manager, engineer, instructor and assessor. I have a can-do attitude and I am personable and polite, outgoing and have an ability to maintain a good sense of humour under pressure.  I am an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) gaining a B/TEC HNC in Automotive Studies whilst serving in the British Army with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) for 26 years. I achieved the rank of Warrant Officer Class One, gaining valuable technical and managerial experience. I am a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Technical Member of IOSH.

Due to redundancy, I set up my own company to work as an associate trainer which was successful, however I was offered a post by a client, CATCH Skills, as a full-time technical trainer which as a member of a new team we have achieved remarkable results by expanding the company’s portfolio of courses and becoming a major course provider in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire within three years of being set up.

I am approved to deliver ECITB and IOSH health and safety courses be it CCNSG Safety Passport and IOSH Managing Safely.  I also deliver Abrasive Wheels, Spill Awareness and Mobile Access Tower (including working at height) and Safety Harness Inspection training having attended train the trainer courses as well as a range of other Health and Safety courses.  Since the Covid19 pandemic started, I have embraced a more technological format to deliver virtual courses online to many clients.

I was previously employed as the site Training Manager, by BOC Special Gases at Immingham, a top tier CoMAH site, and responsible for training delivery and facilitation. I also controlled the production of technical documentation for the site.  I had, since September 2007, been working on site, initially as a contract Senior Technical Author, producing the company’s Integrated Management System and Standards (IMSS) library and their Learning Management System documentation in relation to site processes, safety, and competency training to comply with regulatory and company policy standards.  I gained experience in the site chemical processing facility and gained in-depth knowledge and understanding of the IMSS library and CBT training system ‘Traccess CI’.

I have served as a military training officer in various posts worldwide and experienced in the selection and training of personnel and teaching military and engineering subjects and conducting practical assessments, exam invigilation as well as Training Needs Analysis and the formulation of training plans as the role dictates.

I keep abreast of the latest technological innovations and try to implement them in my work.

I have also been employed as an instructor, courseware writer and course analyst to the Technical Studies Institute, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  As well as a military trained instructor, I am also a qualified CELTA teacher, experienced in teaching both Automotive Studies and English to second language learners.  I have a keen interest in learning Arabic, in which I gained my only GCSE at the ripe old age of 42! And I am also interested in Genealogy and photography.
